An afternoon trip by bus. Your first stop is Balchik. The Roman poet Ovid (43 B.C.-17 A.D.), exiled here by Augustus Caesar, wrote: "Hail, white stone city and thy unique beauty." Set amidst terraced white limestone cliffs, Balchik - dubbed the "Silver Riviera" - has perhaps the most distinctive natural setting of any town on the coast. The Old palace in Balchik will charm you with its eccentricity and the pleasure to walk through the magnificent and picturesque Botanical garden. With the world’s second largest cacti collection, together with hundreds of trees and plant specimens, the Queen’s residence is a paradise on earth for those who enjoy nature. After the guided tour through the garden reboard your coach and head for the longest cape on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. Cape Kaliakra is the most beautiful and probably the strangest place in the Bulgarian northern Black Sea. The narrow rocky peninsula is cutting 2 km into the sea as a wedge and this promontory ends with 70 m high vertical rocks. It is compared to a blazing sward, cutting the greenish-blue waters of the sea. Its name “Kaliakra” means "a beautiful cape". Many legends are related to the cape’s name. The most popular story is about … well, you will find out when you take this trip.
